Duties and Responsibilities

Job Title: Junior Accountant

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable tax regulations. This role is ideal for candidates who want to build their career in accounting and finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record daily financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Process customer invoices, vendor bills, and payments.
  • Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable management.
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
  • Prepare tax-related reports, including VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory declarations.
  • Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in payroll processing and related accounting entries.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and payables.
  • Support internal and external audit activities.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and government regulations.
  • Perform other accounting and finance duties assigned by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Accounting and Finance, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of Ethiopian tax regulations is an advantage.
  • Experience with ERP systems (such as Odoo, SAP, or similar) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
